UNE’s new Bespoke Graduate Certificate gives you freedom to design your own course, have your work experience recognised and defer your fees

The Bespoke Graduate Certificate in Professional Practice gives you freedom to design exactly the course you need to adapt to a rapidly changing workplace.

UNE has developed a genuinely, innovative process that allows you to complete this course with less effort, and with more career benefits, than a standard graduate certificate. Compared to a standard graduate certificate, the effort required is reduced because 25 to 50% of the course is devoted to collaborating with your academic success advisor, to articulate and demonstrate the knowledge you have already gained in your professional life.

The rest of the course is made up by choosing any 2 or 3 units from more than 1,000 units across the university, and assembling them into your own Bespoke Course that addresses your specific needs.

You can also defer your fees, as the course is eligible for the Government’s FEE HELP* scheme.

Less Effort Without Cutting Corners

UNE has developed a genuinely, innovative process that allows you to complete the Bespoke Graduate Certificate of Professional Practice with less effort, and with more career benefits, than a standard graduate certificate. There are no tricks or gimmicks. You won’t be expected to cram or compress weeks of learning into shorter intensive bursts which only give the illusion of less effort.

Compared to a standard graduate certificate, the amount of effort required is reduced because 25 to 50% of the course is devoted to collaborating with your academic success advisor, to articulate and demonstrate the knowledge you have already gained in your professional life. This process occurs within the core unit, ‘Developing Your Professional Practice’ (DYPP). The DYPP saves you effort because you are building on and enriching your existing knowledge without having to learn all of the subject matter from scratch.

Design Your Own Course

In addition to the DYPP Core Unit, you choose 2 or 3 units to make up the rest of your course. You have complete freedom to select these units from over 1,000 units. Choose these from one discipline or mix and match units from across different disciplines. While the choice is completely yours, your academic success advisor can help guide you to select those units. This lets you study only those units which give you the knowledge and skills you need, without having to study the ones that don’t. This empowers you to be able to adapt, as quickly and efficiently as possible, to a rapidly changing workplace.

Looking for even more choice to design your own course without the DYPP Core Unit? UNE Bespoke Courses consist of just 2, 3 or 4 units from a range of UNE’s existing undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. You can choose these units from within a particular degree or you can mix and match units across different degrees and disciplines.

A History of 5 Star Online study

At UNE, online study is about the kind of flexibility and support that can only come from a university that has long understood the challenges faced by adults studying from home.

We have three teaching periods (trimesters), commencing in February/March, July and November, giving you greater choice about when and how much you study each year.

How does online study work?

Online study can also be referred to as 'distance education' (sometimes also off-campus education, or external study) and provides an opportunity for you to study without having to physically attend a campus.

To make sure your learning can take place when it suits you, UNE provides online facilities which allow you to send questions, submit assignments, order library books, check your results and access other resources, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Student Support Team

As a UNE student, you will have access to our professional support services including:

  • Career development
  • Individual counselling — for personal and academic issues
  • Special needs — if you need adjustments to how you study because of temporary or permanent disability or you need diversity and equity advice.

Online Community

We believe that a vital part of online study is your engagement with the learning community.

Communication with your classmates, teaching staff and university support staff will enhance your study experience and ensure that your skills extend beyond the subject matter.

UNE’s teaching staff are experts in their field which is why UNE consistently receive five stars from students for teaching quality.

24/7 Online Tutor Support

Connect to online support at any time. If you are working on an assignment, you can upload a draft 24/7 and get detailed feedback in less than 24 hours.

Online after hours support (3pm – midnight) is available for foundation skills in maths, science, business studies, accounting, economics and statistics.

Academic literacy and assignment support is available for writing, assignments, research, referencing, and study skills.

Intensive Schools

Some online units have on-campus intensive schools (sometimes known as residential schools). They enable you to engage in practical exercises and classes that are designed to achieve specific learning outcomes. Intensive schools are a valuable and enjoyable experience that enrich the learning process and help build your networks.

To see if any units in your degree have intensive schools check the
