UNE is at the forefront of nurse education and we have a reputation for producing excellent nurses who are in-demand because of their practical experience, and knowledge of Australian health care systems.
UNE has three compact teaching periods (trimesters) each year. The Bachelor of Nursing is offered on-campus for the first two teaching periods (Trimester 1 and Trimester 2) to ensure you have a solid foundation, after which you can choose to study on campus or via blended learning for the remaining four teaching periods.
Social Work at UNE is uniquely designed to prepare you for work in diverse settings, particularly within rural and remote areas and communities. You will be exposed to a variety of situations throughout the course, to enable a better understand of how individuals, groups and communities experience issues such as social marginalisation, isolation and disempowerment.
Social Work is taught using a "Case Based Learning Model", as this assists you to develop the skills and capacity to understand multiple, and potentially competing, interests, psycho and social dimensions, and systemic issues. You will be taught using the latest online technologies, which will prepare you for contemporary social work practice within multiple service provision contexts.
UNE offers two Social Work degrees:
Our social work degrees are internationally recognised and accredited by the Australian Association of Social Workers; and you are eligible for membership of this professional body.

Emphasis is given to producing counsellors who are self-reflective and committed to lifelong learning in the areas of human development and counselling processes.
You will be introduced to the mental health care system in Australia, and will learn practical counselling skills to enable you to work effectively in the mental health field.
The implementation of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) has created a demand for employees with specialist education and training in the disability and human services sector. UNE has developed a suite of postgraduate degrees designed to equip you with the key knowledge and skills to help you adopt a more person-centered approach to people with a disability and their families. You will study clinical and neurobiological issues in disability management and NDIS business management.
Our Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma and Master of Disability will develop your understanding of the scientific basis of disabilities, and how to apply evidence-based interventions to assist and manage clients’ lives most effectively. These degrees will help you and your organisation transition into the new era of disability service delivery, whether that be in the government, private or community sector.
