The Joint Medical Program (JMP) is offered through a unique partnership between the University of New England (UNE), the University of Newcastle (UoN) Hunter New England Local Health District and the Central Coast Local Health District – an Australian first.
The JMP is a two-stage, five-year program comprising of a Bachelor of Medical Science (stage one) and Doctor of Medicine (stage two). Our innovative program of study will prepare you for an exciting and rewarding medical career. You’ll graduate with the knowledge and skills for contemporary and emergent medical practice, and be ready to play a key role in shaping and improving future health care for individuals and communities.
The JMP offers students a seamless mix of metropolitan, regional, rural, and remote experience. The course is characterised by an innovative problem-based, integrated curriculum with early clinical exposure and substantial community involvement. Students will work in small tutorial groups of 8–10 to analyse clinical problems, and to gain an understanding of relevant scientific data.
