Science

UNE has a long history of excellence in teaching and research in science. The Bachelor of Science is one of our oldest and most popular degrees, offering a broad spread of majors, from Archaeology to Zoology, and many varied areas of study in between.

Most of our courses are available for study online, with periodic intensive schools conducted on campus for many units, so you can put into practice in the lab what you have learned in your studies.

Science Pathways

The Science Pathways program in the Bachelor of Scientific Studies is designed for students who may have little or no scientific background. It aims to build your skills and knowledge to help prepare you for more specialised science-based degrees. It includes foundation units in basic sciences and allows you to choose units from a range of specific study pathways. On completion of the program you can transfer into the science degree of your choice, and receive credit for units already completed.

More information about the Science Pathways Program.

Bachelor of Science

This degree offers you the opportunity to study a wide range of science topics to provide you with the skills and techniques necessary for solving problems associated with a broad cross-section of issues.

The extensive range of majors available in established and emerging, generalist and specialist sciences, are all underpinned by cutting edge research. In first year students are encouraged to establish a broad science base which allows for flexibility in choosing an appropriate major or majors coupled with the option of a minor. The major completed will appear on the academic record and testamur.

You can complete majors in Animal Science and Veterinary Studies, Applied Physics, Archaeology, Biochemistry/Biotechnology, Biodiversity, Botany, Chemistry, Computational Science, Forensic Science, Genetics, Geography, Geoscience, Mathematics, Medicinal Chemistry, Microbiology, Neuroscience, Palaeobiology, Physiology, Psychology and Zoology. All majors are underpinned by cutting-edge research.

Studying Online

At UNE, online study is about the kind of flexibility and support that can only come from a university that has long understood the challenges faced by adults studying from home.

We have three teaching periods (trimesters), giving you greater choice about when and how much they study each year.

We know that a vital part of online study is your engagement with the learning community. Communication with your classmates, teaching staff and university support staff will enhance your study experience and ensure that your skills extend beyond the subject matter. UNE’s teaching staff are experts in their field which is why UNE consistently receives five stars from students for teaching quality.

Online Study Work?
